While all the songs that he wrote John Lennon and/or Paul McCartney has been credited to Lennon/McCartney, the truth is that most of their songs were written primarily by one or the other. What follows are the best songs (in my opinion) that the Beatles recorded in 1965, that are written by Lennon.
"Ticket To Ride" was a remarkable song to be released as a single in April 1965. Had a sound that was more "heavy" than were used to hearing people at that time.Had a new "emotional" that lacked primarily of former Beatles songs. printing when also called "non-commercial" even if it did go to # 1 in both the UK and United States (as did everything else that The Beatles released at this time.)
"You've got to hide your love Away" is another example of the growing maturity and expanding the Beatles sound (and Lennon in particular). This is probably the most "Bob Dylan song-esque" Beatles ever recorded, Dylan was obviously a huge influence on Lennon. This was a two-way street. While the Beatles were heavily influenced by Dylan lyricism and in seeking a more acoustic sound "," Dylan was influenced by the Beatles to pick up the guitar, in order to bring the rock folk (ie: "folk rock".)
"Help!" Of course, was the title track for the album and film with the same name. You are noticing a pattern with these songs? Lennon was exploring the darker "side" of things. While the music of this song is pretty uptempo and very engaging, the lyrics to tell the story of another. Originally Lennon this pictured is a slower song more emotional, but it was accelerated during registration to make it more "commercial".
"Norwegian Wood" continues the introspective songs "Strip". This is a brilliant song, one of the best of Lennon. But it is also memorable for the contribution of George Harrison (introducing the sitar in Western pop music).
"In My Life" is definitely one of the most classic Beatles songs.Everything about it from is beautifully simple guitar riff, for his poetic lyrics, memorable is the melody is perfect. There was some disagreement over the years to which extent Paul McCartney was involved in writing the melody for this song.Lennon said that Paul helped with the melody while McCartney said that he wrote the entire melody (setting words of John basically music.)
"Nowhere Man" continues the pattern now very evident of 1965 songs John Lennon. He was writing a lot of "very down" songs at the moment. separating his songs by the Beatles songs as a whole really makes this clear. Furthermore, it is surprising how many songs absolutely classic wrote in 1965. These are all not only good songs but really great classic songs.
"Girl" has always been one of my favorites. I love the backup vocals for "tit-tit-for tit-for" and breathing in the sound (definitely not like Tay Zonday.)And certainly fits in with the theme of ' 65 songs Lennon as lyrics can be as downcast this whole bunch.
All these songs are included in both the The Beatles Remastered Box set.
