While Paul McCartney was the best known member of the band to indulge in apparently Ethereal song concepts, John Lennon was given also from time to time to contribute their own musical visions. With Across The Universe Beatles fans were treated to a glimpse into the creative process of Lennon. In 1967, Lennon was inspired during an argument he had with his wife. When listening to her talk to him, rather than to him, the first line of ' Across The Universe ' kept repeating in his mind: ' words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper Cup '. If this indicates the status of the feelings of Lennon regarding his marriage was really a transcendental moment the world will never know, but the line persistent in imagination of Lennon and began to search for music and poems to accompany.
Currently, the Beatles were in their Indian guru meditation/phase, which represents for the inclusion of the mantra ' Jai guru deva om ', spoken in Sanskrit in the chorus of the song. The song was recorded somewhat hastily before a trip to India and Lennon wasn't satisfied with the outcome. It has been shelved and other tracks were released to the tide of the general public until the group could come back from their vacation. Later, he groused that he felt that McCartney had tried to steamroll the song through the study, a taste of the imminent demise of the band due to constant internal squabbling. The song was remixed in order to be part of a charity before release was packaged correctly on the album "Let It Be". Was one of the few contributions Lennon during recording sessions for the album.
Curiously, the song had a lasting impact on the world of culture long after the original release. In a film called Across The Universe Beatles songs and themes have been used to tie together a texture rather loose. The film was more of a Visual navigation and music of a good story. ' Across The Universe ' also had the honour of being sent into space on x-band radio raves by NASA in 2009. It was only the second time a piece of music had been intentionally transmitted in deep space, although radio waves from around the planet ordinarily the gap between the stars. This was done in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of NASA, and hopefully someone out there on the receiving side will be converted to a fan of the Beatles.
